  • Setting up which items to track

Setting up which items can be tracked is very easy and can be done with several mouse clicks only :

    1. Add files by using the add files option. You can select multiple files to be added to the tracking list, like in the picture below :

    2. Add entire folders by using the add folder option. The operation will scan all subfolders and files in the selected folder and will add these items to the tracking list also.

  • Setting up various options

Setting up the options is quite easy with the user friendly interface that is available in Recovozaur :

    1. Setup the archive storage location. In order to specify the archive storage location (where the archives of the tracked files are created) open the setup dialog (by right clicking on the system tray icon and selecting "Setup" or by opening the Recovozaur main window and seceting File/Setup). In the general subsection of the options you can specify where the archives should be stored :

You can use the "Select" button to browse for a convenient folder or you can just type in the folder where you want the archives to be stored. Note that the folder must exist.

    1. Settings up warning limit for the archival of big files. Since big files take a lot of space if they are tracked and archived you can select a threshold to limit the size of the files which are automatically archived. If the check "Warn user about archiving files bigger than" is set then upon every archival operation done on one file Recovozaur will check if the file size is bigger than the specified threshold. If the file is bigger a warning is issued to the user which can select whether the file is archived or not, like below :

    1. If the check "Warn user about archiving files bigger than" is not set no check is done on the file size when archiving a revision and the file is archived regardless of the size.

    2. Settings up rescan of tracked folders. Since rescanning folders for new files takes a while on some slower systems there is a possibility to setup whether the rescan is done the interval used to perform it. Just check the box "Scan new files in tracked folders every xx seconds" and enter the time interval that you wish new files are searched.

    3. Settings up automatic clean up. The automatic archive clean up feature will delete all revisions in the tracked files archives except the last revision. PLEASE USE THIS FEATURE WITH CARE. The revisions that are deleted can not be recovered at a later time. There are 4 available options for setting the automatic archive clean up feature :

      1. Manual - Letting this option selected is recommended since in this case any archive clean up must be done manually.

      2. Daily - Selecting this option will trigger an archive clean up every day at a certain hour (in our example at 4:52 PM local time) :

      1. Weekly - selecting this option will trigger an archive clean up once a week in the day selected by the user (in our example, below the selected day is monday at 4:52 PM local time)

      1. Monthly - selecting this option will trigger an archive clean up once a month in the day selected by the user (in our example, below the selected day is 7th of each month, at 4:52 PM local time)

    4. Settings up interface options. In the interface options subsection it is possible to enable/disable the display of the splash screen upon application startup and remembering the main window placement on screen.

    1. Logging option. The logging panel allows the user to select a log filename where all the relevant information provided by Recovozaur can be logged. Note that logging the data can produce big files and is only recommended if you really need the information in the logs. Normally logging should not be enabled for standard users.

    1. Settings up automatic updates. The automatic update feature is very useful since it will let the user know when a new update/bug fix is available. The automatic update feature can be triggered also manually from the Help menu in the main window or the Check now button in the Automatic update optoins tab (see below) :

    6. Alternately you can save the version to a file and perform a compare between the restored version and the version that you have on disk at the time. This can be done with the option Export revision to file which will ask you for a filename to export the data to.
